THE BEST OF ME

The coffee was hot and the morning was chill,
Empty shapes and patterns I quickly filled.

The shower was cleansing with tiny water bullets,
An idea was forming in my mind’s sockets.

The window was open and the breeze smelt floral,
Vivid strokes of blue, on sheets like coral.

I put away some laziness of heavy dozing,
As suddenly my lean fingers went prettily doodling.

Strands of tresses resting on my shoulder,
Pen strokes on paper got bolder and bolder.

One evening the dusk had made it strike,
Yellow circles, orange lines and pink strips.

The evening was settling with a busy day’s journey,
A few dancing lines made a story very funny.

A roaring day needs to end with some tranquil,
Pens and brushes took me to a meditative exile.

Hazy pictures shuffling in my vivid dreams,
A painting of my life is art that gleams.

Splashes of colors and rhythm did I mixed some,
The best of me is yet to come.
